BB# 27: The TRUTH about hiring coaches and mentors...

Hey friend,

I’ve been coaching people for over 20 years. I love my work more today than ever.

But what you may not know is that I’ve also been hiring coaches and mentors for 20 years too.

When I made the decision to become a world class martial artist in my late teens i sought out, paid for and worked with the very best, travelling the world to learn from coaches like Dan Inosanto (Bruce Lee’s #1 student), Larry Hartsell, Ron Balicki and many more. It accelerated my progress hugely.

As I moved into strength and conditioning I was the first person in the UK to bring across many prominent coaches in the USA and around the world to do seminars. People like Vern Gambetta, Dan John, Dan Baker and more.

Why? Because I wanted to spend time with them and soak up their knowledge and experience to shortcut my journey.

When I launched my first gym and immediately struggled with sales I realised I needed a business mentor. Over the years I’ve worked with many different coaches and mentors across many areas from mindset to marketing to strategy to leadership and finance.

I’ve invested easily over £250k in the last 10 years including over £30k this year alone. And it’s helped me to build multiple 6 and 7 figure companies, make millions in profit, move to Spain and create the life I really want.

It is the smart thing to do.

Why? Because it works. It’s as simple as that. You cannot figure this stuff out yourself and why would you want to?

So I’m a believer. I think that’s clear.

But that doesn’t mean you should be. And as your reading this from someone who promotes these services you should be sceptical.

There are people who will take your money without the ability to deliver results. So be careful.

BUT…

What I want you to understand are the facts.

We can have our own opinions we can’t have our own facts.

Let’s look at some research, some statistics, because it really is revealing when it comes to how transformational having a mentor or coach can be for our development. (Sources listed at the end). 

If you look at Fortune 500 companies – that’s the biggest 500 companies in the USA – 71% of them have got mentorship programmes in-house that their staff can access.

In those programmes, of those with a mentor, 97% say they are valuable.

In a 5 year study of 1,000 employees who enrolled in a mentorship programme, 25% of them had a salary grade increase compared to 5% who were not enrolled in that mentorship programme.

That’s a 5 times increase for people who engaged with a mentor versus people who did not.

In a study of CEO’s that were involved in mentorship programmes, some really interesting findings were reported: 84% of those CEO’s reported that the programme had helped them to avoid costly mistakes.

The same study also found that 84% stated they had become more proficient in their roles, faster than they would had they not been engaged in that mentorship programme, and nearly 70% said they’re making better decisions.

On average mentored individuals earn between $5,610 to $22,450 more annually than non-mentored peers.

And what about coaching?…Similar findings.

Neuroscience research shows coaching fosters neural plasticity, helping individuals break old habits and sustain meaningful change.

Leaders with coaching are 3x more likely to outperform peers due to enhanced strategic thinking and accountability

70% of small businesses that participate in mentorship programs survive beyond 5 years.

Coaching provides an ROI of 5.7 times the cost on average.

Coaching clients are 67% more likely to report high levels of financial success in their businesses

86% of companies recoup their coaching investment, with many experiencing a return of seven times the investment.

The message: Well what do you think?

The facts speak for themselves. If you’re dissatisfied with where you are right now in your business or your life, going alone is not the smart play.

You just need to find the courage to make it happen.
