BB# 30: Coaching is not 'passive income' and the three words to define your 2025
I'm laying it all out for you here.
Hey friend,
If you want passive income don’t be a coach.
This is not a ‘click to buy now’ game we’re playing. It’s a roll your sleeves up and get stuck in game.
At least for my type of coaching and what I teach to you.
I know a lot of ‘the guru’s’ will try to get you to think otherwise so you click and buy their stuff.
Here’s the thing. This is a profession. It’s not a get rich quick scheme. It’s not actually about this year, or even next year. It’s about being here and thriving in 5 and 10 years.
In my 20 years of coaching every single year I’ve worked hard to improve myself and deliver more.
So whilst you’re reading this in January 2025 my message to you is not to think about the next 90 days, but to think about the type of coaching business you want in the next few years.
Next question - what type of person runs that business? how do they act? How do they communicate? What’s their track record? What did they do to get started?
Unpick it. Write it down.
This is the journey you need to create for yourself to determine what you need to do now.
Now lets’ look at January and 2025.
Getting fully booked: More.
More marketing, more conversations, more activity, more no’s leading to more yeses.
Fully booked is simply getting to a point where you need to say no to taking on more clients. It’s the first milestone.
Attracting higher level clients: Courage.
This phase is about having the courage to leave some of your existing clients behind without having new ones to replace them. It’s about the courage the challenge people at a much higher level, and it’s about communicating a level of certainty and clarity to your new prospects that you‘re not used to. If you were you would already have those clients in your business.
All of that takes courage, and belief. You cannot do this if you’re a needy, desperate coach. It has to be genuine.
If you’re not there yet my advice would be to work with someone who can help you get that belief.
Finally if you want to scale your coaching business you need strategy.
Not tactics. Think of strategy as the handbook for how to do it.
Most coaches get bogged down with tactics. Running facebook ads, email marketing etc. But strategy is not that. It’s higher level. It’s the plan.
You need that first.
More.
Courage.
Strategy.
