Great breakdown for you this week. How to launch and grow a newsletter that generates income for your business. I’ve been writing newsletter since maybe 2008. You can see the ridiculously outdated image of my website back in 2011 with the newsletter option.

Of all the marketing pillars I’ve used I would say it’s been one of the top performers for me. Why? Because it builds real relationships.
Like the one you and I have now. You’re reading this for the value it brings to your life. I’m privileged to write it for you and I want you to win.
Email marketing is not about selling, it’s about building great relationships with real people. Building trust.
Here’s why it works:
If you don’t like my content you can opt out anytime and never hear from me again. That gives me a responsibility to write something I think will be valuable for you each and every week.
My clients are setting up newsletters and already seeing results from them.
Here’s how it works:
Pick a topic for your newsletter. For example if you are a business coach call it something like ‘Business Growth Matters’ (you can do better than that!)
Commit to a minimum 1x weekly frequency.
Send it at the same time each and every week. Promote the content that’s coming on your socials.
80-20 Principle: 80% exceptionally high value content, 20% conversion or sales based content. Actually I’d make that 95-5% if you can.
Commit. send 26 weeks in a row before you make a judgement if it’s working for you or not. My guess is if you do it for 6 months you’ll do it for 6 years.
Build relationships. Encourage your readers to hit reply and email you back. Encourage them to share their thoughts and give you feedback. Take the time to respond to them all. (Hit reply and share your story with me!)
Solve their problems and actually care.
Ask questions that tell you what products and services your readers actually want.
Build the solutions your readers want and then email your readers with a great offer.
Make sales and then go again.
It sounds simple because it is. But simple doesn’t mean easy. You have to do the work to make it work.
And my guess is that if you commit you’ll actually begin to really enjoy it.

The ‘ask then build’ model is really what I believe is the definition of true entrepreneurship. It’s such a pure relationship. More on this in another newsletter.
