3 Things to Change Your Life…

MINDSET : 

A focus on learning is a great mindset to have. But you can’t act on new learnings if you’re stuck with old beliefs and behaviours.

Here’s 5 things that I had to unlearn and recommend you do the same if you want freedom.

1. Money is bad. One of the most common beliefs that’s keeping people poor. In reality this is a narrative created by people that don’t have much money to protect them from the fact they don’t have much money! But money is the vehicle to create freedom, to make impact to live the life you want to live. There’s an infinite amount. You can ‘create’ money, you’re not taking it from anyone else. If you don’t launch your thing into the world that money and impact will never exist. Let go of your belief that money is a bad thing and wealth is not for you.
   Money powers freedom.
   

2. Work hard to get a job. Ingrained into most of us through the education system and the beneficiaries of it. I get it. Getting a job is safe, that’s why your parents wanted to you get one, that’s why your teachers said what they said. But if you want real freedom it’s not going to come from working for someone else. It comes from living life on your terms.
   

3. People from round here don’t do (XYZ). Another protective mindset to make you feel better when in truth it’s holding you back. Finish the sentence, whether it’s people from round here don’t drive cars like that, don’t go on TV, don’t become millionaires, don’t move to Spain. It’s all complete BS. The people saying it might not. But do not let that belief soak into your mind and poison your thinking. You can do anything and BE anything you want.
   

4. Sales is sleazy. I’d say this one point held me back more than any other. Watching only fools and horses and the laughs and mocking of the latest deal from Delboy.
   I remember as a kid the salesman knocking on the door trying to sell something to my parents. One time it was a guy selling frozen foods. At one point there must have been 20 boxes of frozen fish in our kitchen and then my mum finally said no and he left in a huff! But another time my parents bought an expensive hoover in the same way. And 25-30 years later they are still using that hoover.
   Sales is the best profession in the world and the one we are all in. The sooner you accept that the more successful and happier you’ll be. Without sales the world would crumble and we would all suffer.
   Master sales and you can be free.

5. Follow the rules. Remember this one? I remember that being drilled into me. One of my early mentors once said “learn the rules before you break the rules”
   That advice has served me well for 20 years. Following the rules keeps you playing small, asking for permission, in your box. Whilst i’m not saying commit crimes and break the law, If you want freedom, if you want wealth you need to operate from a different set of principles and beliefs to this (a future post).

These are 5 things I had to unlearn, maybe you need to as well? And the funny thing is these patterns repeat and we all get to them at different ages and stages.

Recognise it for what it is. These are narratives that have become beliefs that are ingrained from a young age that you can make a decision today to leave behind. No different to the round the campfire tales that once were never questioned.

Every week I speak to people that are blocked by these principles and need to smash through them. But are scared and worried about what will happen on the other side.

But when you let go of them everything you want becomes possible. And all the things you have become more valuable.

What would you add to the list?

MONEY:

It’s almost impossible to consider life before social media. Yet people were still creating businesses, selling services and building empires.

The world has changed. But as Warren Buffet is famed for saying, when everyone is buying you should be selling. When everyone is selling you should be buying.

So when all you see is social media and it seems to be the only possible way to get ahead, my mind tells me it’s just one way to get ahead.

Business is still conducted through conversations and relationships. Especially when selling high value services and programmes. Lean into relationship building in a big way if you want to make things happen.

Here’s the message:

You don’t need social media to make money. But it probably helps.

FREEDOM:

In a previous newsletter I shared a breakdown of a powerful formula to get what you want in life.

Today I have another for you which is:

Vision x Execution = Freedom

There’s a lot to this formula.

Vision is being able to see the future. That is all about seeing things before they exist, and believing that it can be created.

Everything that now exists began by being visualised first. The city of Dubai is a great example. 50 years ago it was a mass of sand, now look at it.

Execution is the creating process. The work, you might say.

Where do you sit on this?

Lots of people are dreamers and not doers. Blocked by their ability to take action.

Lots of people are doers and not dreamers. Blocked by their ability to see and believe things are possible.

Coach yourself - Do you need more vision and belief? Do you need more execution?
